What is Roots Blower?

Roots blower is a volumetric and rotary blower. The air enters the fan through the intake muffler, and the two impellers inside the casing maintain a certain meshing gap with each other. Through synchronous gear belt action, the inhaled gas is pushed from the inlet to the outlet at a constant speed in reverse rotation, overcoming the resistance of high-pressure gas on the outlet side. It is forced out of the unit through the pressure relief valve, elastic joint, exhaust muffler, and one-way valve, achieving the purpose of conveying gas.

The principle of Roots blower is based on a two-rotor mechanical design, which includes the following key points:

Structure composition: Roots blower is mainly composed of three parts: outer impeller, inner impeller and shell. The outer and inner impellers are connected by several planetary gears, allowing the two impellers to rotate in reverse.
How it works:

Gas suction and compression: The gas enters the gear gap of the impeller from the intake port, and the gas is compressed as the impeller rotates. The gear twist design of the outer impeller helps to push the gas outward.
Gas transmission: The compressed gas flows out from the exhaust port to realize the suction and discharge of the gas and provide air pressure.
Features:

Roots blower is a positive displacement fan, the amount of air transported is proportional to the number of revolutions.
The three-blade impeller is used to suck and exhaust 3 times per rotation. Compared with the two-blade impeller, the gas pulsation is reduced, the load change is small, the mechanical strength is high, the noise is low, and the vibration is small.
The impeller rotates at a constant speed in the opposite direction of each other, so that the gas surrounded by the box and the impeller is transported from the suction side to the discharge side. The impeller is always maintained by the synchronous gear to maintain the correct phase, avoid touching each other, can achieve high-speed operation, does not need internal lubrication, simple structure, smooth operation, stable performance.
